 Class Information
Welcome!

In Social Studies, all students learn about history, geography, culture, government and economics. Each grade level focuses on those topics as they relate to difference places:

Sixth grade: Europe, South and Central America, Canada and Australia.

Seventh grade: Asia (including the Middle East) and Africa.

Eighth grade: The great state of Georgia!

Information regarding current topics of study and assignments for all middle school social studies classes can be found on Edmodo (gsd.edmodo.com). A copy of the syllabus for the year is also sent home at the beginning of the school year.

Students have usernames and passwords for Edmodo.

Parents and guardians, you may access Edmodo by requesting a user code from me.

Additionally, students write their assignments in their student agendas each day.

Please don't hesitate to contact me any time with questions or concerns. The best way to contact me is via email at melba.dickinson@doe.k12.ga.us.

Social Studies Notebooks
All middle school students are REQUIRED to have a standard notebook (1.5" or 2" 3-ring binder) for Social Studies. All students will set up this notebook in class. The notebook has five sections: Social Studies Curriculum Standards, Class Notes, Homework, Graded Work and Notebook Paper.

Parent and guardians, your help in keeping your student organized and supplied with necessary class materials (pencils, paper, etc.) is greatly appreciated!

Please see the "Files" section on this page for more information.
